Who We Are:

As a member of the Rocky Mountain Federation of Mineralogical Societies (http://rmfms.org)

The Southern Utah Rock Club brings people together who share a common passion for rocks, minerals and jewelry making from southern Utah and surrounding areas.

We offer monthly rock hounding expeditions, a club owned and operated lapidary shop, and the vast wealth of local knowledge and expertise of our members.

You can see more information on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/UtahRocks/

Our Mission is:

  • To educate members and the community to disseminate knowledge about rocks, minerals and other geological materials.

  • To encourage mineral study, collecting, lapidary and jewelry making as a hobby.

  • To conduct meetings, lectures, displays, field trips and to promote appreciation of our natural resources.

Who’s Welcome?

Anyone interested in our mission is welcome. We have members of all ages. If you’d like to join, download our membership application from our New Membership Page. We look forward to having you join us the first Thursday evening of every month in Cedar City, Utah or the second Thursday every other month in Hurricane, Utah. Currently we are having meetings via Zoom. Please see the link above.

We also have a youth program that is new and developing, we go out on local rockhounding trips, discuss rocks and how they are formed, different types of rock projects and jewelry.

All rock enthusiasts are welcome. Whether you’re a working member or a supporting member, we welcome your participation and support. Check our Donate page to see how you can help.
